Multifuncional & Sustainable Modular Duffle-Backpack

post-image
My project reimagines the everyday school and gym bag through a sustainable, multifunctional design. Designed for students aged 15–25, it transforms seamlessly from a backpack to a duffle, while reducing waste by incorporating recycled textiles and repurposed materials from old bags. The design focuses on durability, comfort, and organisation, supported by targeted research, user feedback, and hands-on experimentation. More than just a bag, this project responds to real user needs and growing demand for eco-conscious products. It aims to prove that sustainability and style can coexist, and that thoughtful design can make everyday routines simpler, smarter, and more responsible.

This is a relevant idea that reflects how young people actually use bags day to day. Designing one product for multiple uses can help reduce material use, cost, and waste, benefiting both the environment and the user.

Could a base bag with optional attachable compartments achieve this, allowing users to add capacity only when needed instead of owning multiple bags.

Let multi-use efficiency guide your design decisions, and test your ideas across different situations to check comfort, durability, and ease of use.

A great concept Lily and so well illustrated. Was wondering if the shoe compartment could detach and go into the washing machine. A lot of touch football players and other grass sports end up with so much dirt and grass on their boots. Difficult to clean the bag that covers them during transport.

Looking forward to seeing your ideas develop.
