What if you could swipe right on a therapist?

post-image
Finding and connecting with a mental health professional can often be difficult, financially challenging and off putting, placing a burden on prioritising one's mental health. I propose an app: easy to use, simple and effective in making therapy more accessible to the everyday person. Users are guided through profiles of therapists. The “chat” feature allows them to gauge the practitioner’s personality and decide if they would like to continue with their services. This function not only connects user and professional, but may also reduce first session anxiety. Looking for supporters who have expertise in UX and UI design.

What do you think?

Brilliant idea Jasmine.

Do you have your wire frame finished. Will see if can connect you with Princples. A UX UI design company, and big supporter of UpRising.

Thank you UpRising!

Unfortunatly my wire frame is not complete yet, though i am working on it now so it should be finished soon! I will comment a link to it when completed!

That sounds amazing thank you!

Love this idea Jasmine! If I can suggest something, I would work on your branding/logo further to reflect the "connected" concept. The choice of fonts and big open 'C' are a little inconsistent with the theme but with some development you have a really appropriate brand idea.

This is an interesting idea! In future iterations make sure to research the Web Content Accessibility Guideline (https://www.accessibility.org.au/guides/what-is-the-wcag-standard/) to make sure that you app is as accessible to as many users as possible. This will include: Colour contrast checking (I like this site: https://colourcontrast.cc/), ensuring your images have clear alternative text and using sans serif fonts (which are generally easier to read on digital) can often be more dyslexic friendly, etc.

Make sure to test your designs with real people - I find they often break our designs in ways we never could have thought of XD

Good Luck!!!

Nice idea Jasmine.  In terms of further reducing anxiety for first-time users, it'd be interesting to consider the inclusion of video content from therapists, talking in a friendly and informal way about their expertise - this may give users even greater confidence to reach out.  Good luck with your development.

Innovative concept Jasmine, this idea has boundless potential for ensuring individuals are comfortable in seeking help.

As a suggestion, I would recommend that some element of calling or facetiming could be implemented into the app. There is only a certain level of conversational depth and understanding that you can grasp through texting another person, and it can be difficult to read different conversational elements, such as humour. Having a medium for calls/video calls may be a helpful avenue when choosing the right therapist. For those with anxiety, this could reduce their need to attend face-to-face sessions entirely, potentially alleviating stress. An online service with calls or video calls, facilitated on this app, could connect people with therapists internationally. This could be beneficial as therapy services can have different specialties , helping individuals find their perfect match.

I have included a link to a journal article on the topic of texting and phone calls below.

Congratulations for the progress you have made, and best of luck with your future endeavours.

Hi Jasmine,
Interesting idea, it's a good problem you're trying to solve.

Just before you get too far down the path, I suggest talking to some psychologists and doing some research. We have a shortage of psychologists here in Australia and most have a 3-month to 2-year waiting period. We also have strict ethical laws that psychologists are bound by, which will also complicate an application like this.

The situation is a lot different for counsellors, however, this platform might be applicable to them.

Congratulations Jasmine you are nearly there.

If you could update the image on your Post to show a little collage of your projects development that would be fantastic. We will be awarding the top three UpRising design projects for 2024 and the UpRising alliance and community love to see the journey of your design.

There is a little feedback survey, if you could fill it in that would fantastic as it really helps us to understand how we can better help next years design students.

It also has an option for you to select if you would like to continue to be involved in UpRising next year and beyond. Lots of interesting ways to continue to build connections within the design industry. Great for your resume and career paths.

Wishing you all the best with your trials and finishing touches on your MDP.

Shout out if we can help in any way.
