A fantastic concept Amy.
You are hitting a few big areas all at once here. There are so many interesting entry points to support this idea. Have you considered what type of flowers that would make up your recycled paper bouquet? Would native flowers be of interest to you?
Looking forward to seeing your project develop.
Also forgot - Highly recommend checking out https://circulardesignco.com/about/ seriously good materials in there that you could use with your project
Thank you for the information Uprising. I have begun researching different flowers and native flowers sound like a very interesting choice as it could possibly add more meaning to my product. Any sources or contacts for individuals with knowledge in flowers would be particularly helpful for my research.
Thanks,
Amy
Hi everyone who sees this comment, I would appreciate if you could fill out this survey for my MDP and share it with anyone who would be willing to fill it out.

Good survey Amy! I've completed it.
will you be incorporating native flowers in to the bouquets? How will the process will work? I am interested to hear more about your ideas
Yes, I will. My design concept is basically making paper flower that can grow into real flowers so I will incorporate native flowers into the bouquet by adding their seeds into the recycled paper I make. I will then use the 'seeded paper' to cut into petal shapes and make paper versions of their original flower.
thank you Amy for the update. Maybe you could speak to a paper/fibre expert and also a horticulturist or botanist to see how to blend the paper with the seeds.
I have been thinking about that, however I am currently having a hard time finding contact numbers for Australian specialist in the area of horticulture and paper (I only found contacts for florists and a specialist who focused on weeds and biosecurity). Would you know any specialist in the region as it would be particularly helpful for my research.
Thanks,
Amy
May I recommend that you reach out to Keith Chessell from the AIP education team and ask him to help as he is an expert in paper. kchessell@aipack.com.au
Amy I suggest that you check the Botanic Gardens shop. I think they have associated products.
Great design idea Amy! Got a few questions/suggestions
Have you considered the paper flower being a dehydrated flower? Also, have you considered a packaging with the seeds inside?
And have you looked into other sustainable materials apart from recycled paper, that could be an option for making the flowers?
You might like these paper flowers, hand-dyed and coloured made from crepe-paper as they can be very realistic: Floragami (norfolkbound.co.uk), ACU

Amy_Q, your initiative to address paper waste and the carbon footprint of the floral industry is truly inspiring. By proposing bouquets made from recycled paper that grow into real flowers, you're offering a creative and sustainable solution to a pressing environmental issue. Encouraging people to plant flowers not only beautifies their surroundings but also contributes to biodiversity and ecosystem health.
To further enhance your design, I would suggest delving deeper into research on the types of recycled paper materials that are most conducive to promoting plant growth. Understanding the characteristics and properties of different paper materials can help optimise the bouquet's ability to support healthy plant growth.
Additionally, consider reaching out to local nurseries or gardening organisations to establish partnerships or seek guidance on the best planting practices for your recycled paper bouquets. Collaborating with experts in the field can provide valuable insights and support to ensure the success of your initiative.
I love this idea Amy and think you could really excel with this project. We recently visited Taronga Zoo in Mosman and they handed out postcards with seeds embedded in them as a sustainability iniative.
I think the postcards were printed from this company: https://seedpaperaustralia.com.au/product/seeded-postcards/
Hope this helps!

Hi there Amy, congratulations, you are nearly there, hope all is going well.
We are sending out a little request - if you could update the image on your Post to show a little collage of your projects development that would be fantastic. We will be awarding the top three UpRising design projects for 2024 and the UpRising alliance and community love to see the journey of your design.
There is a little feedback survey, if you could fill it in that would fantastic as it really helps us to understand how we can better help next years design students.
